Animal Welfare

Most wholesale butchers are not very quick to clarify and highlight the importance of animal welfare. At HP Westwood, we are different. We have multiple accreditations and accolades for our efforts regarding the welfare of our livestock. 

One of which is the Red Tractor label we proudly, along with some 50,000 other British farmers, sport. Being Red Tractor assured ensures that the farming location has been held to the highest possible standards when it comes to animal welfare and wellbeing. 

Livestock at Red Tractor assured sites have access to clean and ample living spaces as well as having a high degree of traceability. 

In 2020, around 3,000 farms were suspended from the scheme as they did not meet the requirements for specific animal welfare regulations. It is safe to say that HP Westwood continued on the scheme. 

HP Westwood are also RSPCA accredited. Since 1874, the RSPCA have been looking after animal’s rights and wellbeing worldwide.  

To be RSPCA accredited you have to undergo incredibly rigorous auditing and testing. This is arguably the most scrutiny you can come under when being tested for a welfare scheme. This is why we are proud to say we adhere to extremely high RSPCA standards.
