As touched upon in previous additions of our wholesale butcher’s blog; wholesale pork offers unique and diverse options when it comes to different cuts and meat types. As such, when it comes to cooking the pork, it is not so simple as one preferred process suits all types of the cut of pig.
This is largely why we have chosen to look at different ways you can cook the many different varieties of wholesale pork.
The first type of pork we will look at how to cook is one of the main staples of the Great British breakfast; that of course being sausages. We will also go one better and look at the different types of sausages and also where to serve them. So let’s commence with this informative and all encompassing blog.
Before you even contemplate the cooking process, you will have to evaluate what type of sausage you have. Depending on your type of sausage, your cooking instructions might vary slightly.
Some of the many options include, but are not limited to; general pork, chilli, Cumberland, Chorizo and Venison sausages. These are just some of the most popular types in the UK. Further abroad there are options which include Bratwurst and Longaniza that are popular in Germany and Argentina respectively.
We thought it was of particular interest to highlight the type of sausage as this might drastically change how you cook them. The main difference between how you cook these sausages is the overall cooking time. As a general rule of thumb, chilli sausages need longer to cook than normal pork editions.
For purposes of ease, we will be focusing on how to primarily cook a traditional pork sausage. This is because usually the instructions are not too dissimilar. But we would recommend always reading the correct cooking instructions before proceeding.

Now you know which sausage you will be cooking, you will want to gather all of the necessary equipment. Usually the correct equipment includes a frying pan, sufficient cooking oil and handling tongs.
Handling tongs are particularly useful as they are required to frequently turn the sausage to cook it at different intervals.
Once you have all of the necessary cooking equipment and utensils; you can start the cooking process. Most avid sausage lovers will advise that you lightly oil, whether it be with olive oil or fry light, a non-stick frying pan. Then gently heat the pan ready to start cooking the chosen piece of wholesale pork.
You are then ready to throw the sausages into the frying pan. Upon initial contact with the pan little bits of fat might start to emerge from the sausages. You should then proceed to frequently turn the sausages ensuring all parts of the pork get the required level of cooking.
You should repeat this process anytime from 15-20 minutes depending on the previously mentioned types of sausages.
When your sausages are done; you might want to consider where you intend to serve them. Again depending on the type of sausage, your current sausage masterpiece could be occupying any number of varied plates. From a full English to being accompanied by mashed potatoes, the possibilities really are endless.
