For instance, some of the practices expected of an abattoir include poor shelter, long periods of transport and the use of growth hormones. As a leading meat wholesaler, we can assure you this is not always the case. Throughout the decades, legislation and the standards of animal welfare have changed and improved dramatically. By law, meat wholesalers, abattoirs and slaughterhouses must comply with stringent animal welfare regulations to ensure humane treatment towards the psychological and physical well-being of livestock. For example, providing sufficient space to express normal behaviour, giving access to adjacent water and food, proper handling, proper stunning methods and freedom from suffering, injury or pain.

For this reason, we only work and build long-lasting partnerships with RSPCA and Red Tractor assured farmers who meet our exact standards and provide excellent animal welfare. We choose locally reared livestock in and around our home region of Staffordshire. Not only to support local farmers, but it also means our livestock are 100% traceable and have less distance to travel, maintaining a comfortable and stress-free life.
